As winter approaches, I’ve been thinking about how cold weather can impact locomotive performance. Maintaining optimal fuel efficiency and ensuring safe operations are crucial this time of year. But i’ve found that regularly checking and adjusting the water separator helps a lot in winter. It really reduces the chances of ice build-up in the fuel system. Last year, we had a few freezes that caught us off guard, so I try to stay proactive about it now.

One thing that helps is using anti-gel additives in the fuel during the colder months. I learned the hard way last year when my locomotive struggled to start. Keeping the fuel warm really makes a difference in overall efficiency, especially when the temperatures drop below freezing.

Ice build-up can really throw a wrench in things, can’t it? I usually throw a heated blanket over the fuel tank to keep the temps up. It sounds silly, but it really helps keep that fuel flowing smoothly! @jmartinez24, have you tried it?
