When the toaster needs a read-back

At 03:17 on channel 3, I caught myself telling the toaster ‘stand by’ and waiting for a proper read-back before pressing start, because I’d just cleared a Form D at MP 42.6. Anyone else have the emergency tone wired so deep that a chirping smoke detector makes you want to issue a general stop, calmly, by the book?

Slapped a ‘no read-back’ sticker on the toaster — helped after Form D at MP 42.6; swap smoke-detector batteries yet?

“03:17 on channel 3” got me because I once did a full read-back to the oven at 02:40, waiting for a roger from the preheat beep. I finally swapped to the voice smoke alarms that say “low battery” instead of chirping — the tone used to drive me nuts; not perfect, but way less adrenaline. @hill30, have you tried changing your kitchen timer tone, or am I the only one issuing a “general stop” to breakfast?

Started swapping smoke-detector batteries every timetable change so the chirp never sneaks up at 03:17 on channel 3; , that tone spikes my heart rate. @ryan_tho40, did the voice units break the reflex? A $6 mechanical egg timer helps too, so the kitchen ‘alarm’ is a bell instead of that radio-adjacent beep.
